Book-Based Lesson Sequences for Foundation to Year 2

This section features complete units of work, which is a sequence of planned lessons using a single children’s picture book. If you’re looking for standalone learning experiences, please head to our Activities section instead.

Ideal for teachers and homeschoolers, these units are designed to support planning or provide ready-to-use lessons for Foundation (age 5), Year 1 (age 6), and Year 2 (age 7) students.

Most units are literacy-focused, drawing on evidence-based approaches such as Talk for Reading, while also integrating learning areas such as Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS), Design and Technologies, and more.

All units are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and offer meaningful, story-based learning experiences to deepen children’s comprehension, language use, and understanding of the world around them.
